Christian Education Opportunities
Children’s Sunday School Classes
The Pre-K through 5th Grade classes are using the "Bible in Life” curriculum from David C Cook.
Preschool, Kindergarten and First Grade topics for this quarter include: "Jesus Show His Love and Greatness" and "Jesus’ Friends Help One Another"
Grades 3-5 will learn about "A Time for Decision", "A Time for Concern", and "A Time for Courage".
Middle School Sunday School Class
The Middle School class is using a curriculum called Live B.I.G. This is an exciting interactive curriculum that uses art, photos, Christian music videos, and video visits to other churches and missions to encourage discussion and demonstrate how people are living their belief in God.
High School Sunday School Class
The High School class has used the youth portions of The Thoughtful Christian curriculum. This class also covers a variety of topics including movies, music, and books, as well as current events and Bible applications to everyday life.
Currently, the High School class is inviting some highly purposeful (and very interesting) people to share how they discovered their calling, and how it has changed their lives.
Adult Sunday School Opportunities
We currently have two adult Sunday School Classes that offer varied learning experiences.
The Thoughtful Christian curriculum is being used by one of our adult classes. This is an online curriculum that covers Biblical topics, as well as current events. Each topic is usually covered in about 2-3 weeks, so a wide variety of choices are available.
Our other adult class focuses on various book studies. Some books covered in the past include; "Don't Sing Songs To a Heavy Heart", "God is Closer Than You Think", "If You Want to Walk on Water, You Have to Get Out of the Boat", and "The Shack". This is a discussion based class in which various class members take turns facilitating the class.
Adult Bible Study
Adult Bible Study meets Wednesday (except for the third Wednesday) from 6:00 - 6:45 pm. This group is currently reading and discussing Christian Prayer for Today. In the past, this group has studied the Old Testament, and overviews of the Gospels and the Book of Acts.
Youth Retreats at Camp Maranatha
Each fall and spring, the youth have the opportunity to spend part or all of a weekend on a retreat at Camp Maranatha in Scottsboro. The retreats are divided up into Elementary (Grades 2nd-5th), Middle School (Grades 6, 7, 8) and High School (Grades 10, 11, 12). The Elementary retreats are usually Saturday to Sunday, and the Middle School and High School retreats are from Friday evening through Sunday morning.
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School is held each summer, usually in July. This is an important ministry here at Grace and a wonderful outreach to our surrounding community. Various programs have been used over the past years, including beach-themed and "Marketplace” curricula. Our VBS usually takes place on a Friday night and most of the day on Saturday.
